Outside my kitchen window the birds are chasing each other around the garden. The blue tits are actually the most peaceful of the lot, bopping innocently around the lilacs while the blackbirds flirt and the magpies and woodpigeons curse and huff among the rowans. However, guess who ended up Fierce Guardian Bird of Pulp Literature’s Issue 7 Title Page? I couldn’t help it. Blue tits have such pretty markings.
